19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard courts

A resurgent the Russian player won his first trophy for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult period, achieving just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally splitting with former coach his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's maiden title after the Rome competition and maiden on a hardcourt from March of that year.

Success also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one different competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to win a title is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This title is in dedication of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his past six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.

His defensive approach and recurring reactions on court had caused some to question if his skill to play at the top level was concluded.

But the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and compete positively, reinforced by an enhanced service.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair swapped break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his first ATP Tour championship, took control to push for a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 early opportunities in a close third set before the champion secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev clinched the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
