Area Police
Around fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered multiple other vandalized automobiles and residential walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement report initial examinations suggest the substance was probably human bodily fluid.
"At present there remains no lead as to where it came from; authorities are currently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the public for tips.
A high-ranking representative said the incident rendered him without words and required to be solved quickly.
"This event strikes at the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he wrote on a platform, referring to the murder of nine people by a assailant targeting people of migrant background in 2020.
